The Fear of Icicles

Weather certainly has a powerful effect on everyone. We are apparently at the beginning of one of the worst storms since 1982! To be honest the ice accummulation thus far has been a little more than anticlimatic...not sure what tomorrow will bring, but the news tells of only disasterous circumstances. With peoples driving skills under normal circumstances being as horrifying as they are - the mere mention of ice will surely send their vehicles whirling out of control. Also noteworthy is the ever present battle between companies to have their employees there at all costs. Reason is thrown to the wind as the eblasts stating "SOMEONE WILL BE IN THE OFFICE TOMORROW" are sent company-wide. Really though - are the people sending it really that invested in fighting mother nature to arrive in the office to prove a point. Insurance deductibles are too high to risk ones vehicle or health for that matter.

Situations such as this point out the inability of the grocery stores to provide enough food for a cities population in times of need. Walking through the store I felt like I had stepped back in time when milk was the most precious commodity! A discovery channel moment - people fighting tooth and nail for milk, bananas, and minced garlic (clearly the bare essentials). Even the Walmarts experienced what I like to think of as "White Friday" - with barren shelves in no short supply.

This is certainly a good day to start this blog as I will most likely be working from home tomorrow due to the inclement weather. No complaints on my end: pjs, hot tea, and itunes accommpaniment make for a good work day. I was inspired to start this after reading my friend's blog - I find her entries quite entertaining. I do not travel nearly as much as she, but there is never a dull moment to record.

Still awaiting the radon test results for my house...best not to think about it - I could be developing lung cancer at this very moment. Darn uranium. No wonder people are supersticious, with so many odorless, invisible gases that can kill you.
